Spring can not get here fast enough. The long month of March is upon us but the spring bulbs grow a little each sunny day and soon there will be beautiful color!
The town highway folks have kept our roads clear and safe whenever it was needed. Highway Supt. Art Freemier and the guys check our roads often to make sure you can get home on clear roads at all times.
The town and Village of Oneida Castle are still trying to secure grant funds to give you the choice of putting in sewers in portions of the western portion of the town. Grant funds are not easy to come by but we will continue to seek them. Hopefully, in the near future we will have informational meetings.
The tax rate, for the entire town, was $1.02/thousand dollars of assesment to fund the 2013 budget. By the entire town government ,elected officials and employees, being careful with your money we should be able to keep this rate close to the same next year. So many expenses and revenues we have no control over. Let us hope that both remain constant.
The Fire Departments of, Oneida Castle, Sherrill, Vernon and Vernon Center are a crucial part of our community. These departments are totally staffed by volunteers. They take their own time to train, be certified and serve. Please help support them financialy or with your time. They have kept their budgets to zero increase. They accomplish this by having many fund raisers and making good business decisions.
Attend a function or buy a raffle ticket whenever you can. When you see one of our volunteers please tell them thanks!
Watch our website for information about our town. We will be having a festival this fall, the date has not been decided at this time.
Hopefully we will have a little better day for the event than last year.
Please support our local businesses, enjoy our local beauty. There is no better place to raise a family and live. It may not be perfect but I am proud to call this town my home!
